Observation is intrinsic to our existence. We are always looking, scanning, extracting and digesting information. What we choose from our environment to ponder upon is subjective. Our subjectivity makes us what we are and defines our role in this world. When it comes to assuming my role in this place, it would be a spectator. I am interested in nature, and I like to observe the changes that occur in our biosphere. I have always had an affinity towards rhythmic chaos; I think that the wilderness is a playground for that. I have always been fascinated by the way that plant life evolves and changes throughout the year, reflecting the cyclical nature of time and the beauty of impermanence. It is through my practice that I seek to capture these fleeting moments, freeze them in time, and celebrate the inherent magic that can be found in even the smallest of natural wonders.

There are 3 clear elements in my work; one is the terrain, second the organic ‘stagnant’ object, and third is the ‘dynamic’ protagonist. The protagonist is seen to be interacting and at times even invading the carefully rendered space. There is a lucid quality that I try to enact, usually with the help of the washes which help me create the mood and time of the scene. My works are born from my personal experiences and memories, inspired by the natural world and the breathtaking experiences that I have witnessed throughout my life. The saturated colour palette in my paintings allow me to maintain the dreamlike, almost extra terrestrial quality of my paintings. I like to make my paintings in large scale, which allows the viewer to immerse into the paintings. I want my paintings to consume the viewer and carry them into a space that does not belong in current the time-space.
